The Siberian tiger and the Amur leopard are endangered species under global protection. These big cats once dominated the mountains and forests, but only a few now remain in the wild.

The Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park is important for the survival of these felines and for restoring and maintaining stable populations. Tigers and leopards ought to roam freely in the mountains.
