In China, millions of women are victims of domestic violence, with an estimated one case every eight seconds.
Women who have had their eyes gouged out, been punched, kicked and emotionally abused by their partners are now speaking out. Shocking cases are also surfacing on the internet, bringing national attention to the issue.
China has introduced a new anti-domestic violence law, but critics argue that the debate around women's abuse is often censored. Activists say it is a battle with traditional Confucian values which instil outdated views of women.
