January 13, 2022: Biden tries to rally Democrats on voting rights, Mitch McConnell blasts Biden, Kevin McCarthy refuses to cooperate with the January 6 investigation, Boris Johnson's apology, Quebec plans to tax the unvaccinated.

1. Biden seeks to rally Senate Democrats in a meeting at the Capitol on Thursday to unite and alter the chamber's rules to pass voting-rights legislation.

2. Mitch McConnell blasts Biden's push for a voting rights bill underscoring the difficulty Democrats face in steering legislation through Congress. "The president's rant yesterday was incoherent, incorrect and beneath his office,” McConnell said.

3. The committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack seeks testimony from Kevin McCarthy about former President Donald Trump's actions on the day of the riot. McCarthy issued a written statement saying he would not cooperate with what he described as an "illegitimate" committee.
