China floods: moment aluminium alloy plant explodes in Henan province

Guardian, 22 Jul 2021
Dramatic footage shows the moment an aluminium plant exploded in China's central Henan province, after a record breaking rain storm. According to the local government, the aluminium alloy unit of Dengfeng Power Group Co Ltd exploded as flooding water entered the plant. The river near the alloy unit exceeded the warning water level and collapsed a factory wall, said the Dengfeng government in a statement. The company immediately cut off power and organised evacuations after water flooded the plant. No one was reported injured or missing from the accident and the government has carried out a safety inspection, according to international news agency Reuters
